LONDON 2012 OLYMPIC GAMES RESULTS & MEDALS
For 17 days in July and August, the eyes of the world will descend upon London, England as the world’s greatest athletes, representing 205 distinct nations meet, as they do every 4 years, to vie for Olympic Gold and the prestigious claim of being christened Olympic Champion.
While the individual medal hauls will be watched and recorded, particularly in cases like that of American swimming sensation and Olympic Champion Michael Phelps, who with two more medals will eclipse the long-standing high-water mark of total lifetime Olympic medals (18), a record that is currently held by former Russian gymnast Larissa Latinyna. There is also the total medal haul each country will garner that will which closely monitored.
Races within Races and Champions amongst Champions and story-lines within story-lines, the Olympic Games are always bursting at the seams with athletic feats, tests of strength and both personal and national rivalries that will fill newspapers, web pages and television slots for many years… at least until the next summer games, 4 years down the line.
